Brae Farm Harvest Notes July 20, 2024
Hi everyone,
The citrus orchard is laden with fruit. It would be good to do a big harvest of Myer lemons and Tahitian limes as soon as it's convenient for the kitchen. We can pick several crates of each. The various mandarins and cumquats are coming to full ripeness, and there's a least one crate of lemonades ready to go.
We'll have quite a few large caulis and romanesco ready on Tuesday. There are also 8-10 nice little softball sized cauliflowers if you'd like to use them small.
We have baby Tokyo turnips back on the list. Our baby carrots have grown, and are now on the larger size.
Our medium-sized leeks are not going to get any bigger, and I'd like to get them harvested in the next month. They will start to bolt as we head towards spring. I'd say there are around 200 leeks in the bed.
We've harvested the last of the celeriac.
I'd like to dig up the rest of the skirrit, if next week suits the kitchen? It would be great to have a verdict on whether to plant it again next season.
Thanks, Jo
